Governor of Nyeri in Kenya, Wahome Gakuru who was traveling to Nairobi for a talk show on Inooro TV died in a ghastly motor accident in Kabati on the Thika-Kenol highway.
The governor and his driver were rushed to Thika Level 5 Hospital and were set to be flown to Nairobi Hospital for further treatment before he gave up the ghost.

Any act of war will consume the North - Fani-Kayode warns
Former minister of aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has said any slaughter of Igbos in the north will lead to a swift retaliation throughout the south. NAIJ.com gathered that the former minister in reaction to the three months eviction notice on Igbos in the north by the Coalition of Northern Youths (CNY), warned that this time around, any act of war will consume the North who believe they own Nigeria. Fani-Kayode via his Facebook page said those that gave the Igbos quit notice in the north are playing with fire.

Any pogrom or slaughter of Igbos in the north will lead to a swift, immediate and devastating retaliation throughout the south. CCTV Footage of a Robbery Attack in Zenith Bank Emerges Online(Video)
According to report, the attack left about three policemen dead, five customers with injuries with one of the robbers dead.
Earlier reports had stated that the robbers trailed a bank customer with a huge deposit to the bank, shot the customer dead and escaped with the money.
CCTV footage of the attack has emerged online which shows a gun battle between the robbers and some policemen attached to the bank.
In the video footage shared by a Facebook user, one of the robbers was shot dead by a brave MOPOL officer attached to the bank’s security team.
The robbers, who arrived in a black Hyundai car, have since been arrested by the police.
After six weeks of investigation, ring leader – Justice Ogbenna, aka JJ, and getaway driver Okechukwu Onwuamaegbu– were arrested in Aba, Abia State by operatives of the Imo State Police Command during activities marking JJ’s father’s burial.

Meet man who stole a phone, uses the phone to posts his pictures on victim's social media page
This man in the pictures below can safely be assumed to be the 'world's dumbest thief' following his actions. The thief whose name is yet to be ascertained, had reportedly taken over the Whatsapp profile of a man whose phone he had stolen earlier.
According to the original owner of the phone, Chris Martin II, who shared his plight on Facebook, the man stole his valuables alongside his phone and he was able to get hold of the thief's pictures after he shared them on Whatsapp. "Phone Thief!!! So, whoever this guy is stole my phone and my valuables. My phone pouch had several of my credit cards, bank debit cards, full British Drivers License, Nigerian Drivers License, business cards and other very important stuff that I hold dear. The audacious thief was foolish enough to stunt with my whatsapp profile on the stolen phone. This is obviously how I got these pictures of him. All entreaties to him to return my stolen properties has been to no avail. Honestly, the importance of any phone isn't the monetary value but the value of all the important information stored inside. I need my items back. I don't care about getting him arrested, I just want my phone and my stuff back. Please help me restore faith in humanity. Help me find this guy. I believe someone on here must know this chap. He must be based in PH City. Please share until we find him. Many thanks in advance."

More than 130 imams across Britain refuse to bury the London Bridge terrorists.
Religious leaders across the country said they will not perform the traditional Islamic prayer for the attackers who killed seven people and injured almost 50 in the atrocity in the London bridge attacks.
The faith leaders have refused to carry it out for jihadis Khuram Butt, Rachid Redouane and Youssef Zaghba – calling their actions “indefensible”.
According to the UK Sun, in a strongly-worded statement on the Muslim Council of Britain’s website – the largest Muslim body in the UK – the faith leaders said the terrorists’ actions were “completely at odds with the lofty teachings of Islam.”

The statement said:
“Consequently, and in light of other such ethical principles which are quintessential to Islam, we will not perform the traditional Islamic funeral prayer over the perpetrators and we also urge fellow imams and religious authorities to withdraw such a privilege.
“This is because such indefensible actions are completely at odds with the lofty teachings of Islam.
“These vile murderers seek to divide our society and instil fear; we will ensure they fail. We implore everyone to unite: we are one community. In the face of such dastardly cowardice, unlike the terrorists, we must uphold love and compassion.”
The chairman of East London Mosque and London Muslim Centre, Muhammad Habibur-Rahman, also spoke out to urge people to reject division and prejudice, and to report both extremism and Islamophobia.They said they will continue to work to counteract terrorists’ “twisted narrative and their perversion” of the religion.
“Once again we come together, to stand united against those who try to divide us,” they added.
“The cold-blooded murder of innocent people in London on Saturday evening will not succeed in driving us apart.
“I have a clear message to those who perpetrate terrorism: you are against the very core teaching of Islam and of our Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him.
“Your misguidance will lead you to destruction, and God willing you will utterly fail in your evil aims.
“We stand apart from you and your corruption of the religion of Islam. Terrorism has no faith.”

Governor Obiano, denies allegation of funding IPOB
A press statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Strategic Communications, Prince Oliver Okpala described the allegation as untrue and complete falsehood.
Okpala who responded to the allegation on behalf of his principal, Chief Willie Obiano said it was a concoction by opposition politicians who were looking for a way to rope Obiano into trouble with the people of the state as a way of denying him a second term in office.
The release reads in part, “The most worrisome and satanic is the allegation that the Governor gave cash donations and SUV vehicles to the organisations and its leaders.
“Such unfounded allegation was ungodly and capable of creating unnecessary tension in the polity. The Governor as a consummate financial expert has been managing the State’s scarce resources with prudence, and all government expenditures have been judiciously done.”
He wondered what people gained in peddling rumours and lies instead of engaging in meaningful ventures, and also appealed to politicians in the country to enthrone political civility, decorum, good conduct and truthfulness in their political campaigns and activities.
“Overheating the polity now, when INEC electoral timetable for Anambra governorship would commence in August is a clear indication that some politicians in the opposition are not prepared to play by the rules which he said may have a catastrophic effect on the smooth conduct of the election.
“Our decision as law abiding citizens to play politics according to the rules and to eschew bitterness falsehood and indecent approach to political issues should not be taken for weakness as nobody has monopoly to the articulation of dangerous propaganda as an instrument of political warfare.
“Certainly if these pleas are not heeded, we shall not have any alternative than to return fire for fire as a word is enough for the wise,” he warned.

Femi Adesina-President Buhari has a great future for Nigerian youths
The Spokesman of President Muhammadu Buhari , Femi Adesina, has called for the support from Nigerians to bequeath a better future to the Nigerian youths.
Adesina made this call in a statement issued by Mr Attah Esa, Deputy Director (Information), Office of the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, on Tuesday in Abuja.
Esa said the presidential aide stated this after receiving a Golden Leadership Award from the National Youths Advocacy for Good Governance Initiative.
Adesina maintained that President Buhari had remained in politics because of his desire to see a new Nigeria emerge for the upcoming generation.
‘‘One of the reasons President Buhari repeatedly contested for the position of the President of Nigeria was to see the country properly take care of young people.
‘‘He strongly believes there should be a better country for the future generation.
‘‘Tell your colleagues to team up with a government that envisages a better future for this country because Nigerians deserve a better future and that is what the President is aspiring to bequeath,’’ he said.
While presenting the award, the National Coordinator of the Youth Group, Mr Alabi Abiodun, commended Adesina for his exemplary role and service to the nation.
He described the President’s spokesman as a “lover of truth, mentor and icon for Nigerian youths’’.
Nine dead, 80 others injured in Kabul car bomb attack
At least nine people were killed when a suicide car bomb exploded in Kabul’s diplomatic district on Wednesday morning.
The explosion took place near Zanbaq square, in the Afghanistan capital, near where many countries’ diplomatic missions are based.
Over 80 people were also wounded in the attack, with officials saying the casualty could rise.
A police and a hospital source told Al Jazeera that at least nine people were killed in the attack. Waheed Majroh, a spokesman for the Afghan health ministry, told Al Jazeera that dozens of people were taken to hospital after the blast.
“The explosion was so loud that it shattered all my windows, did not hear something this big before,” Al Jazeera quotes Fatima Faizi, a Kabul resident, as saying.
A spokesperson for Kabul police, Basir Mujahid told Reuters that “It was a car bomb near the German embassy, but there are several other important compounds and offices near there too. It is hard to say what the exact target is.”
The explosion occurred during the rush hour at about 8:30 a.m. local time.
Whistleblower arraigned for giving false information on Ekweremadu’s guesthouse
The Nigeria Police Force on Tuesday arraigned a 50-year-old man, Ahmed Echodo, for allegedly misleading the police to conduct a raid at a building belonging to the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, on Friday.
According to the one-count charge, two defendants were accused of the offense, although only Mr. Echodo was arraigned at a magistrate court in Abuja.
Security operatives had ransacked Mr. Ekweremadu’s building on Friday morning following information accusing the occupants of criminal offenses. They found nothing incriminating during the search.
Security officers at the building located in Ganges street, Maitama, Abuja, told PREMIUM TIMES that the raid was conducted by police officers, under the instruction of the Inspector General of Police, IGP, Ibrahim Idris.
Although that information was denied by the police spokesperson, Moshood Jimoh, the police on Tuesday charged the two men on a one-count of misleading the Nigeria Police.
According to the charge, the men, Mr. Echodo and Maiwada Adamu, are accused of conspiring to falsely inform the office of the IGP that the building, occupied by Oliver Ogenyi, is being maintained and used for criminal activities including storage of arms and ammunition.
The second accused, Mr. Adamu, was not in court while the first defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecution counsel, Ismail Tawo, informed the court that Mr. Adamu was at large.
The magistrate, Umar Kagarko, asked the police to find Mr. Adamu and present him in court at the next sitting.
The counsel to the defense, Peter Ngwoke, prayed the court to grant his client bail.
Mr. Kagarko adjourned till June 5, for ruling on the bail application.
